Digits! ... Dig it?

Erm ... well ... this could (and prolly will) be a quick one for Strawberry Singh's Monday Meme 'What's your Digits?' ... I've done it in 2011 already as you can see here ... and haven't changed my digits since then ;-)

Darn ... I grabbed the wrong ruler ..............

Part 1 - Proportions Challenge Questions:

1. Do you try and keep your avatar’s body proportionate and similar to the “average” proportions pictured above?   Nope ... I don't care about proprtions neither average nor any other ... at  least not deliberately ... ;-)
2. What do you dislike the most about the SL avatar mesh?  Like many others I'm not happy about the SL hands and even worse, the feet. But I'm no fan of prim/mesh body parts so I usually just stick to what mother SL-nature gave to me and cover it with boots and clothing when needed ...
3. Does it bother you when you see other avatars that are not proportionate at all? – Nope, everyone can have the look he/she likes, that's ok. What bothers me is when ppl tell me that I should get a new, more modern/up-to-date skin/shape/outfit ... I don't like to be told what I should look like ... in neither life!!
4. Even though this is a virtual world and people can be anything they want to be, do you feel when they are in human form, they should try to keep their proportions close to average? Hell no ... if everyone would perfectly match those 'average' proportions, darn, that would be pretty boring ... and actually to have a proper 'average' you need some 'extremes' at all ends ;-)

Sorry ... I'm lazy ... I just post the pic from 2011 ... as I said nothing's changed (since 2006 actually ... lol )

PS. I know that proportions can be pretty important and helpful ... and messing them up can make you pretty dizzy in the head ... but so do roundabouts, love and alcohol ... and we still like it ;-)

kk ... lazy blogger-me squeezes in one of the memes from Strawberry Singh, even tho I don't have answers to all questions ... not even weird answers ;-)

1. Which was the last sim you visited? (Other than your home) Sanctuary Rock (at my last shift for a while)
2. Does your avatar look like the real you? Erm ... well ... I tried to make it look like me, which was a lot harder than I thought and didn't work as I wanted and my SL me looks a lot younger than me ... sepecially as I didn't change my shape and skin after my first weeks in SL ... but there is a slight similarity as you can see in this pic of half SL and half RL .......

   

   I know ... it looks creepy ;-)

   
   
3. Do you wear underwear/panties underneath your clothing when out and about on the grid? erm ... should I? ... I don't care much about what I wear, it's mostly the same outfit everytime I'm logged in ... and usually there was nobody around while I redressed for an event ... at least I think there was nobody ... ;-)
4. If you won a million linden dollars, what would be the first thing you buy inworld? Run to the next Linden-exchange and swap it for € ... hehe
5. Have you ever bought something in SL and then realized afterwards that you had already owned it from before? Probably not (or I never noticed) ... as I hardly go shopping.
6. Have you ever done anything in Second Life that would be considered illegal in real life? Well ... nothing too serious ... just the usual stuff ... entering private property without permission, (accidently) stealing a box of jeans from a sales-wall, killing zombies ... and asking my DJs to torture the audience ... ;-)
7. If you could go out on a date with any other avatar, who would it be? on a SL date or an RL date ??!!?? ... well ... I wouldn't go to any dates in SL anymore ... but I sure would like to have a date in RL with some of the folks I got to know in SL ... erm ... maybe not a 'date' , but just some eye to eye talking and a hug ;-)
8. Who, in your opinion, was the greatest avatar to ever slive? got no idea !!!! ... that's a really weird question !!!
9. What is the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done inworld? erm ... there were a few occasions were I was pretty embarrassed ... and I quickly forgot them ;-) ... Most of them happened when I was a newbie and didn't know how SL worked ... I once was exploring SL mainland together with my daughter ... we found a nice looking pool and wondered about the pink and blue balls in there ... we sat on those balls and were laughing our asses off about the 'action' that was going on, when suddenly the owner of the pool appeared and as he wasn't happy at all about us as guests, we hurried to tp out to the next place we had a lm of, some club, but we had forgotten to hop off the poseballs ... and so we were still in the action-pose, just not together ... that looked darn strange *blush* and I didn't log back in for a while ... lol ...
10. If your avatar had a mind of its own, what do you think it would say to you? My avatar got a mind of it's own ;-) ... and she said 'Maria, you might be a loony, but take a SL-break for a while and leave me alone' ... and guess what ... I'm a good girl and follow that advice ;-)

Why ... damn it, WHY ... do I BLOG ?!?

1. How long have you been blogging? Since Oktober 2008
    
2. Why did you start blogging? In the beginning I wanted to show the creations I did for my store 'LoonAtic Wear' .... but as I didn't want it to be a pure 'Shop-Blog', I added pics and thoughts from/about my daily SL-Life and my mood in general ...
    
3. How many times a week do you post an entry? It depends ... there have been times when I did several posts a week ... at the moment I hardly do one post  ... tho I want to post more again, if my RL releases me now and then ;-)
    
4. How many different blogs do you read on a regular basis? There are maybe 10 blogs I really read ... and maybe 20 other blogs that I look at least at the pics ;-) ... I use Google Reader and I'm already afraid of the time when it closes down in July ... I haven't found a satisfying replacement yet ...
    
5. Do you comment on other people’s blogs? I often comment in my head, but then I'm sometimes too shy to really write the comment. So I usually comment only on blogs of friends.
    
6. Do you keep track of how many visitors you have? I use statcounter, but as I don't look at it as often as I used to (it's too depressing to see several days with a ZERO in a row, lol).
    
7. Did you ever regret a post that you wrote? Well ... to be honest ... I once wrote a post when I was very sad and hurt by something that happened in my SL-Life ... but after a few hours  I edited the post to be less personal ... cause it's no use in hurting someone, just because you've been hurt yourself.
    
8. Do you think your readers have a true sense of who you are based on your blog? I don't try to be someone else than I am (apart from the fact that Mayala-me is a pixel character) ... and as I write about my RL sometimes, a reader can get a slight idea of who I am.   
   
   
    
9. Do you blog under your real name? Nope, I blog as Mayala/LoonAtic/Loony ... tho I think I might have mentioned my real first name now and then (at least in some video-clips) ... *grins* 
   
   
    
10. Are there topics that you would never blog about? I usually don't blog about other people (SL/RL) without their permission. I don't blog heavy/too serious stuff ... and I don't blog about fashion ;-p
     
11. What is the theme/topic of your blog? ... well ... I guess I do not really have a theme, it's more a bit of a mess ... I like to post pics I do for challenges like the Colour Challenge, Single Frame Stories, these memes or stuff I see in SL (tho somehow my time gets less there) ... I love to post my silly machinimas (btw. watch out ... another mad machinima coming soon with a mad hellish race ... *grins* ... ) pictures I do with my RL camera and of course I love to post clips from the concerts I've been too in RL like this clip from last weekend, when my absolute favs, the french PunkRock-Band TOXIC WASTE came over for a visit during their tour (I just LOVE them)   
     
12. Do you have more than one blog? If so, why? I actually have 2 more blogs, but both totally neglected ... my pure shop-blog LoonAtic Wear Pure  (but my shop is on hiatus ... and so is that blog) and my RL Photo Blog LoonYpix (I have tons of pics for it, but I'm too lazy to upload them)
     
13. What have you found to be the benefits of blogging? I use the blog as a kind of scrap-book ... and love to look at old blog-entries now and then ;-)
     
14. So, why do you continue to blog? It's fun ... and I like to share pics and clips and nonsense with people I don't even know (well and of course with friends too ;-p ... )

My 10 SL Firsts

kk ... I left out the last 2 memes suggested by Strawberry Singh ... 
- cause I'm not much into social networks (maybe I'm anti-social ... hehe) tho I have a Facebook-Account that I use rather to stay in contact with bands I like and I use Flickr rather to store pics than to interact ...
- cause I think I don't have any peeves (neither pet nor any other) ... I'm a very patient and optimistic person ;-)

but today's theme sent me on a nice memory trip thru a collection of old SL-Snapshots on my extern hd ... and even tho I won't answer all, I'll give it a try ...

not even 30 days old ;-) ...'Camping' on Bali Hai ... hard earned Lindens ... but at least with my selfmade bass

1. First SL Friend: I'm not sure who exactly my first SL-friend was ... I think I met Boss (a nice dutch guy) and Bry (a nice english guy) at almost the same time ... and as far as I remember on the same sim, Bali Hai. Bry unfortunately left SL long ago, Boss is still there and we say hello now and then or meet in RL during a vacation in the Netherlands ... always a pleasure :-))  
2. First SL Kiss: erm ...  no comment /  ... or if you insist ... here's a pic of an SL kiss with Max (my RL hubby) *sniggerz* 
   
        
3. First SLex time/place/partner: OMG good ol' wild days (drools away) ... erm ... no comment ... *grins*
4. First SL Partner/Girlfriend/Boyfriend/Wife/Husband: erm ... no comment / I felt quite close to some people ... most of them left SL quite long ago tho ... I never partnered in SL and I'm pretty sure I never will ;-)
5. First SL Job: dancer at Sanctuary Rock ... I send an application to the club sometime in October 2007 with this pic ;-)
   
   ... and a while after that I started my own shop 'LoonAtic Wear' with renting this cart ;-)

   

   The beginning of LoonAtic Wear ... and Troy,  a very close friend, who supported me a lot :-)

   I had lots of fun creating clothes and nonsense ... but it's on hiatus since more than a year now, exists only on the marketplace with my old stuff and as sponsor at Sanctuary Rock  ... I just don't find the time for it anymore ;-(
6. First SL Creation: I think I started to create within the first week ... spent a lot of time in 'Dreams' a very cool and big public sandbox ... but I don't remember what exactly my first creation was (beside the wooden cube) ... but among my first creations was my hair, nose and belly piercing ... and little devil horns for Bry and me as seen in this pic taken at a club called Little Britain (omg ... look at those textures ... and my amazing photo-shooting skills ... hehe)
   
   ... or one of my first dresses ... I was darn proud of the glimmering and shimmering effect it had when dancing ... too bad you cannot see it in the pic ;-p
   
   
   
7. First Encounter with a Linden: I never talked to a Linden, but I saw some at Sanctuary Rock ... guess they were checking how much lag an average club visitor can bear ;-) ... I even took a pic of the first Linden I saw ... a 'grid-gardener' ... but I think I deleted it as it wasn't that spectecular ;-P
8. First Encounter with a SLebrity: I don't care much about celebrities in any life ... I prolly wouldn't even know if someone is a 'celebrity' in SL. Whatever ...
9. First SL Sim you fell in love with: I don't know if I ever 'fell in love' with a sim (prolly not) ... but the first sims that were important to me were 'Bali Hai' cause it was kinda home for 'homeless me' for quite a long time ... and 'Dreams', the sandbox where I spent so much time creating nonsense ... and I think I let it crash several times with my 'skirt-generator' ... hehe

well ... I saw this on several blogs, like Rudh's, Dondo Dollinger's, Alicia Chenaux's, Deoridhe's, Tymmerie Thorne's ...
but it was started by Strawberry Singh ...

You're supposed 'to share seven facts about your SL avatar or your SLife that may or may not be obvious to all your readers'

O... K ... ........ tho I don't have many readers, I thought 'Let's be a Lemming and try this'

Fact #1
I'm stuck with my first avatar since March 2007 now ... darn ... that's 6 years now ... I'm kinda OLD ..............

Fact #2
There have been several times where I was very close to quitting SL, due to some collisions with RL or rather some RL problems that extended into SL ... or maybe I was just fed up in general, but I guess that's pretty normal
I'm still here .. erm ... there ... erm ... whatever

Fact #3
I don't like shopping ... I'm not even into fashion ... in neither life actually ;-)
I wear the same outfit almost every time I log in ... same skin, same shape, same hair (with changing colour and punky version tho)
So I only shop when I don't have the time or the ability to create stuff for my events at SR or my pics and machinimas.

Fact #4
Even after 6 years in SL I still cannot walk, run fly or drive properly ... I walk into walls, fall from cliffs, run over ppl with all kinds of vehicles, crash planes, hang glider and flying carpets ........ but I swear, I'm not drunk ;-p

Fact #5
I love planning stuff for the place I've rented, but so far I've never completed any of my plans ... ;-)
a few weeks ago I moved to a new place (1024 m2) and a few days ago, I was able to rent the 2 neighbour parcels as well (512 + 1344 m2) ... so I'm proud to have 2880 m2 and 658 prims , beach and water for my silly ideas (YaY ... mirrors of SL, here I come) ... *grins*

Fact #6
I'm not very social ... usually I just stand on my parcel, messing with terraforming (desaster), stuff for pix and clips ... or preparing for my events at SR ... or worse, I just stand around while fighting with blender, gimp or power director or try to do a blog-post ;-)
I'm not into that family / relationship stuff ... and I usually just scratch my head about some dramas that I hear/read of ;-)
Funny enough, I love to host at SR, which includes some talking ...
But beware, when I'm in the right mood, it can be hard to stop my talking nonsense ;-)

Fact #7
Except for my appearance and my ability to fly,dance and teleport ... there's hardly any difference between SL-me and RL-me, I think.
So I see my SL just as a creative add-on to my RL ;-)

(extra fact: ... I'm a bad writer ... or rather no writer at all, please forgive me)

The last days I was forced to think about something, to make a decision which quite affects my future (RL) life ...
and tho it was the choice between 2 rather positive possibilities, the  'thinking' made my pea-brain (and my belly) ache ...
Finally, after discussions with friends and family and rather bad sleep, I kicked my butt, pushed away the darn grey block of self-doubt and lack of confidence and made a decision ... maybe for the easier way, but I think it's a good one.

Today Linden Lab reminded me of something I haven't thought of in almost all of the recent years ...
REZDAY ... the 6th !!! ... darn ... now I feel really old ... THANK YOU, LL ... lol
Anyways, I won't let pass by a chance to eat some tasty cake ... nom nom nom ...

Single Frame Stories - Edge

I should rather be dancing on it ...

I know, I know ... not much of a story ... rather a description of my mood sometimes ...

Besides that ... the preparation of the pic involved lots of edges ... so a whole story in itself, including fight, despair, hope and even a kind of happy end ... 
I messed around in Blender and finally, after several setbacks and quite an amount of time, I managed to create a mesh knife and it's matching textures ... YaY

It's far from perfect, but I think it won't be my last mesh-object.
I'm very grateful for the tutorials I could find on youtube ... and especially on the Machinimatrix-Blog.
Creating the pose was rather edgeless tho ;-)
 
And darn ... now I have even more silly ideas in my pea-brain, not just pics and machinimas ...
Can someone hand me some extra hours every day?

My last flight was ca. 18 years ago ... it was quite nice, but I prefer to stay on the ground actually ...

While I was in The old Imperial Steampunk Theatre of New Babbage trying to turn my idea for this weeks Single Frame Stories into a pic, I suddenly recieved a box from a stranger containing a Prim version of the Metropolis character I was already wearing. 
Tho I after trying I prefered the texture version, I had a lil talk with Aley, that nice stranger, who also kindly sent me some poses to try out ...
and I finally asked her if she would like to be my colourful counterpart for the pic.

Single Frame Stories - Easy

 The way might be not easy , but the goal is ... DIY-Learning a new language ... as fast as possible ... ;-)

YaY ... Easy ... that should be EASY ;-)
erm ... or maybe not ... 
well ... right now my lil pea brain tries to fill up and cope with a new language ... french ... 
cause I would love to talk to my french LoonAtic in french easily, I want to understand the songs of my fav french band 'Toxic Waste'  ... 
and I want to learn it fast, cause if all works out fine, Toxic Waste will stop by for a gig in Koblenz in April 2013 during their short tour thru Belgium, Czech Republic and Germany ...I can hardly wait to meet them guys again and it would be cool to talk to them in FRENCH  ;-)

Here's Toxic Waste playing their song Bricolage Circus at the Hauptquartier in Aachen last year, sorry that my cam totally ruined the sound.


So I got me a soft to learn french on my own ... and I'm glad that nobody can hear me yet, when I try to repeat the exercises ;-)

Single Frame Stories - Humility

Does it really make a difference on the whole ... I mean ... in the END ? ......
erm ... at least in the darn f.... huge number of steps to the light ....................

Weeeellll ... humility ... not an easy one for me, cause I admire and hate humility.
...... and I'm far too lazy to explain why ... spank me ;-)
And because I'm such a lazy butt, I'm glad that my way to the top of my grave will prolly be a lot shorter than the climb of this poor pharao ... and I sure would love to watch the stars, sitting on my tombstone ;-)

But before that, I will watch the other entries for the Single Frame Stories on the blog and on flickr ... and I'm already curious for next week's prompt ....

YaY ... I'm early this week ... maybe because I didn't sleep well the last nights and woke up often ;-)
And while this is a SINGLE FRAME Story ... it started ideas for another nonsene machinima in my head ...
Alas, time is something that keeps running away from me ;-(
But maybe I'll make a compact MULTI FRAME story out of all my singles, who knows ;-)

It was after my Goth-Party at Sanctuary Rock, when I read what colour it would be this week and was surprisingly wearing kinda matching outfit, so I took the chance ... and some pics
